Hibiscus Tea
Gudhal
Deep-crimson calyces of the roselle flower, hand-harvested and sun-dried across India's warm growing belts. Naturally caffeine-free, the infusion pours a vivid ruby red with a bright, cranberry-tart edge and a clean floral finish. Steep hot as a soothing evening cup, or chill into the Mexican-style agua fresca known as flor de jamaica.

Questions
- Is gudhal the same as hibiscus tea?
- Yes. Gudhal is the Indian name for the hibiscus flower; the dried calyces of the roselle variety (Hibiscus sabdariffa) are what brew into hibiscus tea, also called flor de jamaica or karkade.
- Does hibiscus tea contain caffeine?
- No. It is a herbal infusion made from flower calyces, not tea leaves, so it is naturally caffeine-free and suits any time of day.
- Why is the brew so red and tart?
- The calyces are rich in natural anthocyanins and fruit acids, which give the infusion its signature ruby colour and bright cranberry-like tang.
