Questions
- Is tulsi the same as holy basil?
- Yes. Tulsi is the Indian name for holy basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum), a sacred aromatic herb distinct from the sweet basil used in cooking. Our blend uses the Rama and Krishna morphotypes traditionally grown for infusions.
- Does tulsi tea contain caffeine?
- No. Tulsi is a herbal infusion with no caffeine, which makes it well suited to evening drinking and to anyone reducing their caffeine intake.
- How do I brew tulsi tea?
- Steep a teaspoon of leaf in freshly boiled water for five to seven minutes, then strain. It takes well to a second steep, and pairs naturally with honey, ginger or lemon.
